Biography

 Leonardo Olmi was born in Florence Italy during the summer of 1964. He received his first dive certificate at the age of 15. He started his photographic career with travel photography at age 18 and with underwater photography at age 22. Leonardo became a PADI instructor in 1990 and later on advanced to the PADI Master Instructor level. He also became a NAUI instructor. He has a total of 23 years diving experience including 10 years of teaching in Italy, the Maldives, the Cayman Islands, Cancun, and Cozumel, Mexico. He has certified more than 300 divers and has completed more than 3000 dives. His knowledge of English and Spanish has helped him to travel to more than 30 countries.

 

Today Leonardo is a professional photojournalist specializing in travel, glamour, sports, and underwater photography. He has photographed and written articles about travel within the USA, Australia, Europe, the Caribbean, the Maldives Islands, Mexico and Central America, as well as the Red Sea, Thailand, Indonesia, French Polynesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Brazil. He is published monthly in the Italian magazine “Mondo Sommerso”, “Aqua”, “Sub” and “Il Subacqueo.” He regularly freelances for the Italian travel magazine “Panorama Travel” and the Italian edition of “Playboy.” His other publications include: “Tauchen,” (Germany); “Buceadores,” (Spain); “Oceans,” (France); “Asian Diver,” (Singapore); “Max,” (Italy); “Marie Claire,” (Italy); and “Easyriders,” (USA). Leonardo’s images have appeared on postcards, calendars, posters, catalogues, travel books, and advertising material. He has authored text and photographed images for a book depicting the island of Maui, Hawaii. Currently his archive contains over 100,000 images and 60 articles/photo essays.
